Hope is the sole survivor from her litter - she is tough and was determined to live despite the hard start she had. Born on the 7th January 2009 in the middle of the heatwave she weighed only 130 grams and was so weak she was unable to suckle. After visiting Marilyn Gill and getting all the advice and equipment, I started feeding her with a syringe - milking mum for the first few days, and when she dried up using Biolac.The two baby photos are taken at 9 days when she weighed only 160 grams - not much of an improvement.
For the first week she did not have a name as I was not sure she would survive. When we hit the two week mark, I was always saying to her "I hope you survive" - so naturally what other name could she have.
To look at her now - running around and annoying the other dogs - it is hard to imagine how little she was.
